5. The Anthology - Peter Green/Various

Description

2008 four CD set, the most extensive retrospective look at Peter Green's truly legendary career. The set contains essential Peter Green music drawn from all stages of his career. From his first tentative recordings with the likes of Peter Barden's and John Mayall, it moves through the genesis of Fleetwood Mac and the band's many classic blues recordings including 'Ramblin' Pony' and 'Black Magic Woman'. Fleetwood Mac's subsequent blues and rock fusion chart hits - titles like the utterly unique 'Albatross', 'Oh Well' and the haunting 'Man of the World' - are all included, as is the best of his later solo work and Splinter Group recordings. The set is stylishly packaged in a hardback digicase with 64-page booklet containing enlightening liner notes, rare photographs, memorabilia, plus commentary and artwork from Peter himself. Quite simply, this is the ultimate Peter Green collection - a special release befitting a special musician and songwriter who is rightly one of the most revered blues guitarists of all time. Salvo.

6. Reaching The Cold 100

Description

Peter Green was discovered by John Mayall and was lead guitarist in the late 60's Bluesbreakers before leaving to form Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac with Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. After well documented health problems, Green reappeared in the mid 90's, much changed but with his talent and love of the blues still intact, as an integral part of Peter Green Splinter Group.

Reaching The Cold 100 is the second album that Peter Green Splinter Group has recorded for Eagle and follows on from 2001's Time Traders. The title is taken from Robert Johnson's song Terraplane Blues and refers to hitting 100 mph for the first time in a Hudson Terraplane, a V8 car favoured by the likes of John Dillinger.

7. Me & The Devil ( 3 CD Clambox )

Description

2008 three CD set featuring two discs of Peter Green's award-winning recordings of bluesman Robert Johnson classics plus a third disc containing Johnson's own recordings of the songs that made him a legend. The 29 songs that Robert Johnson recorded in various Texas hotel rooms in 1936 and 1937 are amongst the most significant and influential works in the history of Blues music. It was thus very appropriate that it was to these landmark songs that Peter Green turned when recording the two albums which have done so much to re-launch his career, 1998's the Robert Johnson Songbook and 2000's Hot Foot Powder.

8. The Best of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac

Description

England.

9. White Sky

Description

Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 1981 by the British guitarist and founding member of Fleetwood Mac. After 1979 and 1980 albums by Peter Green were in turns bluesy and funky, White Sky emphasized rock. Drummer Reg Isidore of the Robin Trower Band continues his collaboration with Green. Maybe this is because all the songs are written by his older brother Mike Green, who sings on the title track. Great care was put into remastering and providing bonus tracks on this reissue from his PVK recordings. As the founder of Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
